Expanding the Football Academy Business - Ali's Words

Updated: Aug 2

Our football academy received quite a good response in Dubai upon its launch. It gained quite a reputation through sheer word of mouth. However, for any business to expand and grow, you need more customers and more finances. One of the first things that you can do to bring in more investment and credibility for your business is to find a good sponsor. It is important because when you have a good sponsor backing you up, you’re perceived as a strong and credible brand.

In the summer of 2018, we felt that it was the right time to expand our market. So I decided to form an Under 16 team. Luckily I was approached by a young 15-year-old chap who was very eager to be a part of my team. But I didn’t have a spot for him. So we did a deal that worked for both of us. I told him that I would take him on my Under 16 team if he helps me find good players/contacts. To my delight, the boy was a networking guru. He managed to recruit sixteen players for me during that summer and all of them came from the most prestigious schools in Dubai. Remember, an association with a good school has immense weightage in the academy business because academy football is expensive and caters to players belonging to affluent families.

The best part is that I even found my sponsor from within these 16 boys. So the point is when you want to expand your business, you have to welcome new people and discover new opportunities. You need to have an open and flexible approach. This is how you can achieve the desired results.
